Victoria Immigration Centre, located within the prison compound, handled the detention and repatriation of undocumented immigrants. The prison, as a liminal place, is a metaphor for life’s journey.
The heritage exhibition Finding a Place to Call Home explores this chapter of the site’s history and its contemporary relevance. Focusing on the themes of migration and displacement, we invited collaborative partners, the wider refugee and migrant communities, and former police and prison officers to jointly create meaningful content for a mural designed by the artist Eric Okdeh.
This project affirms Tai Kwun’s commitment to fostering inclusion and cultural participation for all.
